COVID-19 Employee Quarantine & Isolation Guidance

Quarantine

Quarantine separates people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has changed its guidelines to no longer require a quarantine period even with direct exposure to COVID-19. However, if you have a known exposure to COVID-19, you should wear a mask for 10 days and isolate immediately if you develop symptoms.

Isolation

Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick. You should isolate as soon as you show symptoms or test positive for COVID-19. Isolate for at least five days. You may end isolation after day five if you are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and your symptoms are improving. You should wear a mask for an additional five days.

The University strongly encourages its employees to follow the advice of their healthcare provider first, when determining quarantine and isolation periods.
