Mandatory Annual Training


*NOTE: For departments with employees who do not have computer access, please email talentmanagement@louisiana.edu to arrange group training for those employees.

Full-Time Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, Unclassified and Classified Staff

Faculty members, Classified Staff and Unclassified Staff of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are required to complete mandatory training within 30 days of hire and once per calendar year. The required trainings have been combined into one curriculum which has been assigned to these employees in Cornerstone, the University’s Learning Management System (LMS).  The Annual Mandatory Training curriculum is composed of the following courses:

  • Everfi - Preventing Harassment and Discrimination-Title IX/Cleary Module. This course is designed to raise awareness regarding the prevention of sexual harassment.  It meets the 1-hour training requirement as outlined ACT 270 of the 2018 regular session and provides updated information regarding ACT 413 of the 2019 regular session.
  • Shots Fired on Campus-Surviving an Active Shooter Situation. This course is intended to give you fundamental information to help guide you on what to do if you are ever exposed to an Active Shooter situation.
  • State Governmental Ethics. This training fulfils the requirement of R. S. 42:1170 that each public servant shall receive a minimum of one hour of education and training on the Code of Ethics during each year of his public employment or term of office.
  • Reporting Power-Based Violence; What Employees Need to Know.  This course, created by the Louisiana Board of Regents, provides information regarding Power-Based Violence.  Power-based violence is defined as any form of interpersonal violence intended to control or intimidate another person through the assertion of power over the person. It includes but is more expansive than sexual misconduct and Title IX misconduct.

The Annual Mandatory Training curriculum can be launched from the user’s Welcome page in Cornerstone. A completion certificated can be generated from the user’s Cornerstone transcript when all four courses are complete.

Employees who are new to the University are required to take the following course in addition to those in the Annual Mandatory Training Curriculum:

  • CPTP – Cybersecurity Awareness. This training meets the requirements set forth in ACT 155 of the 2020 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature, including content on forming information security habits and best practices for detecting, assessing, reporting and addressing information security threats.

Completions will be monitored by the Talent Management area of the Office of Human Resources.


Part-Time Employees

Part-Time employees of the University are required to complete mandatory training within 30 days of hire and once per calendar year.  The current required trainings are:

  • Ethics Training for Public Servants. This training fulfils the requirement of R. S. 42:1170 that each public servant shall receive a minimum of one hour of education and training on the Code of Ethics during each year of his public employment or term of office. 
  • Shots Fired on Campus-Surviving an Active Shooter Situation. This course is intended to give you fundamental information to help guide you on what to do if you are ever exposed to an Active Shooter situation.
  • CPTP – Preventing Sexual Harassment. This course is designed to raise awareness regarding the prevention of sexual harassment.  It meets the 1-hour training requirement as outlined ACT 270 of the 2018 regular session and provides updated information regarding ACT 413 of the 2019 regular session.

Although not an annual requirement, Cybersecurity Awareness training must be completed within 30 days of hire. The training must be completed by those who have not previously taken the training.

  • CPTP – Cybersecurity Awareness. Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants

Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants of the University are required to complete mandatory training within 30 days of hire and once per calendar year.  The current required trainings are:

  • CPTP – Cybersecurity Awareness. Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students training by Everfi will be administered according to the academic calendar year (summer to spring semester) by the Dean of Students' Office. During the fall semester the Dean of Students will communicate access to the Everfi trainings for all graduate students. Graduate assistants and graduate teaching assistants who attempt to access the Everfi training, Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students, and are unable to do so, have completed the training requirement for this course ONLY. Graduate assistants and graduate teaching assistants are still required to complete training on the additional courses, listed above

Completions will be monitored by the Talent Management area of the Office of Human Resources and by the Graduate School.


CPTP- ADA Compliance (Mandatory Training Requirement - Supervisors only)

This required training can be accessed through Cornerstone via ULink. All Supervisors should have been assigned this training in the system.

  1.     Log in to ULink
  2.     On the Employee tab click Cornerstone & Training, which redirects you into the Cornerstone.
  3.     Once in Cornerstone, Training should appear under your "Assigned Training" block on your Welcome Page. Click Launch to begin.
  4.     If the training does not appear as indicated in the previous step, select Search All Courses, enter the course title in the search bar, select and launch the course.

Building Evacuation Action Plan (Annual Requirement)

Fulltime Faculty, Unclassified and Classified Staff (only)

The required training can be accessed through Cornerstone via ULink.

  1.      Log in to ULink
  2.      On the Employee tab, in the Human Resources box, click Cornerstone, which redirects you into the system.
  3.     Once in Cornerstone, click the navigation menu icon   , click Learning, then select Browse for Training
  4.     Select your appropriate Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP) Course. For those on Main Campus select the Main Campus training. For those located off-campus (Athletics, Abdallas Hall, etc.) select South Campus. For New Iberia Research Center employees select  NIRC Campus.

*Those Temporary, Part-Time employees (Casual Labor) who work in excess of 90 days in a calendar year should contact Human Resources to complete required training.
